…. Still, if the shawl turns out as prettily as I expect it to, then it’ll be worth it. The shawl in question is the Flower Basket Lace Shawl by Evelyn A. Clark, knitted using KnitWitches pure silk laceweight (Vogue colourway).

A few rows short of completing chart one
This is my first time knitting lace and working from a chart so it’s technique learning all round which is very cool. I hadn’t quite anticipated creating the shawl just yet but as I don’t yet have the needles to cast on my next sock project (gives me an excuse to get out of Swindon at the weekend, even if it is just a short trip to Bristol) I figured I would give this one a go instead.
And why is it stealing my sanity? Well, I keep getting to the ends of rows and finding I’m short on stitches, then tinking but not finding where I’ve gone wrong, then frogging a few rows to get back to a ‘correct’ row. This has happened several times and it’s been driving me a bit batty.
Of course, as I’m working on this project it does mean that my Wave scarf is complete after several hours of straight knitting while visiting Ali and Nick at the weekend. It’s so soft and snoogly, I’m really looking forward to finally being able to wear it when the weather just starts to turn a bit chillier (i.e. when it’s still a bit too warm to wear my super duper warm scarf).

Finished blue Wave scarf. Thank you, Rhiannon and Andy, for a beautiful yarn and pattern.
