Ok, so I’m feeling rubbish this evening because I didn’t get the job I applied for and really really wanted. In an attempt to cheer myself up, I thought a blog about knitting and stash might help somewhat so here we go (and if I’m talking to myself then so be it).
Ok, so first iKnit day stash (I will actually get around to writing about iKnit day once I’m feeling a bit more chipper):

red mohair from Devon Fine Fibres – I am certain I’ll be buying from them again, especially as they are such lovely people.

Pagewood Farm yarn, Yukon in colourway Navajo bought from the lovely Alice at Socktopus. I bought this within about 20 minutes of walking into iKnit day; I fell in love with the colourway and knew I had to buy it then rather than coming back later after browsing other stalls, because the yarn was disappearing like crazy and it wouldn’t have still been there by the time I got back.
I already have sock-age plans for this yarn.

Finally we have superwash sock yarn from Knitwitches Yarns in Sea Holly – not for socks, mind you, but a shawl for the lady who first taught me how to make a knit stitch when I was eight years old.
Ok, so there we have the stash. As for knitting goodness, well I finally finished these:

I can’t speak highly enough of both the yarn used and the pattern. The latter is Express Lane by Diane Mulholland which can be found at The Inside Loop (if you didn’t already know). I already much prefer toe-up socks to cuff-down socks (no fiddle picking up of gusset stitches for one) and the pattern is absolutely gorgeous. The yarn is from Artist Palette Yarns – I came across this skein in a knitting shop in Malvern. It’s so soft, but at the same time the bamboo give it strength and a beautiful sheen at the same time. I am very much in love with the socks *hugs socks, then remembers they’ve been worn around London on Saturday and at work today. Ick*.
I’m still trying to pluck up the nerve to crack on with the shawl, but in the meantime I’m making this:

It’s the Quickie Cowl pattern by Fawn Pea and I’m using the BFL Ali spun and gave me as a graduation present. Ali, hon, one of the ladies at work has commented on how lovely the yarn is and how beautifully it’s knitting up so be very proud of your work
.
You know, writing all that has cheered me up a bit which is good.
Oh and before I go, I did not the 6 quirky things meme, but as most of my knitterly friends have already been tagged/completed it I put it on my LJ instead and tagged people there. Here are my answers, anyway, so ya’ll don’t miss out:
1). I couldn’t cartwheel until I was 19 and that was after some stupendous tumbles. I can now do cartwheels on both sides, with varying results.
2). My favourite song when I was about 8 or 9 was Eternal Flame by The Bangles. I still remember dancing in the front garden at home to it and pronouncing “say my name” as “saymaname” as I didn’t realise what the words were.
3). The first solo I sung was in a Co-Opera Youth production of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat. I played Asher and sung one of the verses of Those Canaan Days.
4). I wish I could speak Irish or Scottish Gaelic but funnily enough there aren’t many language courses in the South West of England offering that one.
5). I appear to have wanted to be a storyteller at a very young age. My mum would often recount how I would make up stories and tell them to the family cats.
6). I used to tell left from right by looking at my hands – I have a freckle between my thumb and index finger on my right hand.
