Post-Christmas reflections

Wow, the run up to Christmas this year was a bit mental, especially on the knitterly front. The three presents that absolutely had to be finished were done by the time presents were to be opened on Christmas Day (although I admit that Christmas Eve/ early Christmas morning consisted of a marathon knitting session to finish off a UK size 12 pair of socks!). I also managed to finish a pair of Fetchings for my aunt, although I have to rip them back a bit and modify the pattern from the thumb up as she’s got permanently swollen thumbs so the usual size for the thumb on the gloves in too small.

Dad, Adam and Elle were all thrilled with the sock – Adam even told me later that Elle had told him they were the best Christmas present she’d ever had because she’d never had anything made for her before. Needless to say I was chuffed at how happy everyone was.

I hope everyone’s had a fab Christmas and that you are all looking forward to a wonderful new year!

The other presents on my list a few posts ago will still be made, but with less panic. I have also promised knitted gifts some time within the next year for several friends from university as I’m feeling the pinch of a screwed up economy right now. Hopefully I’ll create things worth waiting for.

My current WIP (other than the basket lace shawl that I should really pick up again) is another pair of socks – this time for myself. I’m using Diane‘s Pippie Ripple Pattern with the Pagewood Farm Yukon that I bought at IKL 2008. Still on the toe at the moment, but as soon as there’s something worth seeing I’ll take some pictures.
